When we partner together to support our local Boys & Girls Clubs, we are truly “investing in great futures!”

In addition to providing safe places for thousands of area students to go after school and over summer break, which are known as the times that children can be the least supervised and most vulnerable, our local Boys & Girls Clubs focus on several key areas for youth development:

  • Academic Success
  • Career Development / Workforce Readiness
  • Good Character & Leadership Development
  • Healthy Lifestyles

Tina M. Patton, CSOP™, CISM®, Vice President, Director of Nonprofit & Foundation Engagement at Indiana Trust Wealth Management, states, “Not only are the Boys & Girls Clubs places where children can be expressive in a safe and healthy environment, they are also places where children can experience developmental and educational enrichment opportunities that will help them become more productive and successful in the future.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County currently serves students at multiple locations associated with each of the following organizations, in its mission “to serve the youth of our community by providing social, physical, academic, cultural and family experiences in a safe environment and to help develop a value system that will improve the quality of their lives and lead them to become productive, responsible citizens”:

  • John Glenn School Corporation (from 2 locations)
  • OC Carmichael Jr. Youth Center
  • South Bend Community School Corporation (from 6 locations)
  • South Bend Empowerment Zone (from 2 locations)
  • School City of Mishawaka (from 8 locations)
  • Success Academy & Career Academy (from 2 locations)

In the area of new programming, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County just wrapped up the first year of its academic learning recovery program, STRIVE.  The outcomes of STRIVE’s afterschool programming are significant:  In just one year, 64% of children served improved 1 or more grade levels in literacy, and 20% improved 2 or more grade levels in both literacy and math!

Jacqueline Kronk, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, indicates, “We are working hard to serve as many kids as possible as effectively as possible. Investments and statements of support like this help us tremendously to achieve that mission.”  Jacqueline also notes that the St. Joseph County Club will host its largest fundraiser of the year on June 2nd – for more information about the event, contact Lindahl Chase at lchase@bgcsjc.org.

About the Indiana Trust Nonprofit Spotlight Program

Indiana Trust Wealth Management launched the Indiana Trust Nonprofit Spotlight program initiative in January 2021, which consists of recognizing, rewarding, and promoting a nonprofit organization in one or more of the company’s footprint areas on a monthly basis, as a way to highlight various nonprofit organizations throughout the year and bring attention to the good work being done in the communities they serve. Under the Nonprofit Spotlight initiative, the nonprofit organization will receive a $1,000 corporate donation and be eligible for employee gift-matching throughout the year. David R. Kibbe, JD, President & CEO, states, “As a majority employee-owned company, matching our employees’ contributions is an opportunity for Indiana Trust to support those nonprofits whose missions connect with our employees."
