A Primer on Economic Cycles

The term “recession” has been bandied about in the popular press in increasing frequency over the past several weeks.  As such, we wanted to take an opportunity to educate our clients on the economic definition and reality of recession, as well as to make an educated assessment of the current economic condition and what it will likely mean for investors.  The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) is the body responsible for dating a recession and maintains a chronology of the U.S. business cycles.
